In the spring of 1946, after serving in the U.S. Navy, a young and determined William R. Parkhurst, founded the PARKHURST MANUFACTURING COMPANY in a borrowed two-car garage and built his first two-wheeled utility trailer in these small quarters. In November of 1946 the company re-located in a newly constructed 4,000 square foot building on Broadway and started producing what was to become the mainstay of the Company…..the Parkhurst Farm Truck Body. In 1948 a new addition was underway doubling the square footage of the factory necessary because the “Parkhurst” name was now appearing on stake racks, wagon boxes, van bodies and truck bodies thoughout Central Missouri, as well a large number of utility trailers for the rental industry.
Richard Parkhurst son of the founder presided over the company during much of the 1980’s. When he left to pursue other business interests William R. came out of retirement to again preside until his death in 1991.
Rob Parkhurst, grandson of William R. Parkhurst grew up being educated by his grandfather in all aspects of the company. Rob managed the corporation utilizing progressive technology while keeping the same values and standards of its’ founder...............to build a quality product at an affordable price.
Rob managed the company from 1991 until his sudden, unexpected death in February, 2012. At the time of his death Rob was the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board.
Intent on keeping this 66 year old business in the family and operating according to the Parkhurst family tradition and goals envisioned by Rob, the stockholders have placed their confidence in Mike Harris who now holds the offices of Chief Executive Officer and President. Mike has been with the company for 39 years serving as President since 2008 and prior to that as Executive Vice President. Mike worked closely with Rob and with Mike's leadership and progressive thinking, Parkhurst will continue its' tradition of quality and integrity.
The key to our continued success is our staff. We take pride in our personnel for they are the working parts that make Parkhurst synonymous with fine products and services in the field of transportation. The benefits we provide our employees combined with a family oriented atomosphere promotes longevity. The average number of years of employment currently is 19. The value to you, our customer is that your product is being administered and built by those with a working history to draw upon.
SALES DEPARTMENT
Our sales department is directed by Sam Trelow, Vice President of Sales. Sam has over 22 years of experience with Parkhurst and is knowledgeable in every area of the operations. He has hands on experience in all operations from the flooring of the platforms through to the final shipping details. Sam can answer any of your questions aboujt our products and can quote your special needs product.
Also knowledgeable and able to answer your questions about our product is Toby Pierce. Some of you were introduced to Toby at the NTEA show which he attended for the first time in 2006. Toby started working for us in 1997 while he was finishing his degree at CMSU in Warrensburg, MO. After finishing his degree and going full time in our machine shop, we quickly realiized his potential. Since Toby has been involved with building the product from the ground up, sales was the next logical step for him.
