She and her husband Dutch, a pastor of a local church, have five children and eleven grandchildren. They both grew up and received their education in the Kansas City area, but after moving to Sedalia they grew to love the area and consider it home.

In their free time, they love to take road trips exploring the country, whether a one day 250 mile trip or a weeklong 3500 mile trip. They just enjoy being on the road.

WE ARE A COMPANY WITH A HISTORY
and we are meeting the future head on‭…

PARKHURST COMPANY STARTED IN GARAGE IN‭ ‬1946‭ ‬was the headline of the Sedalia Chamber of Commerce paper in August‭ ‬1966‭ ‬featuring Parkhurst Manufacturing.‭

In‭ ‬1946,‭ ‬after serving in the U.S.‭ ‬Navy,‭ ‬a young and determined William R.‭ ‬Parkhurst,‭ ‬founded the PARKHURST MANUFACTURING COMPANY in a borrowed two-car garage and built his first two-wheeled utility trailer.‭ ‬Late that year,‭ ‬the company relocated to a newly constructed‭ ‬4,000‭ ‬square foot building and started producing what would become the mainstay of the company‭…‬..the Parkhurst Farm Truck Body. ‭ ‬In‭ ‬1948,‭ ‬a new addition was underway doubling the square footage of the factory to keep up with production as the‭ “‬Parkhurst‭” ‬name was now appearing on stock racks,‭ ‬wagon boxes,‭ ‬van bodies,‭ ‬truck bodies,‭ ‬and utility trailers throughout Central Missouri.

During much of the‭ ‬1980‭’‬s,‭ ‬Richard Parkhurst,‭ ‬son of the founder,‭ ‬presided over the company.‭ ‬When he left to pursue other business interests,‭ ‬William R.‭ ‬came out of retirement to run the company until his death in‭ ‬1991. ‭

From‭ ‬1991‭ ‬until his sudden death in February‭ ‬2012,‭ ‬Rob Parkhurst managed the company.‭ ‬Rob was the grandson of William R.‭ ‬Parkhurst and grew up being educated by his grandfather in all aspects of the company. ‭ ‬Rob managed the corporation utilizing progressive technology while keeping the same values and standards of its founder‭—‬to build a quality product at an affordable price.‭ ‬At the time of his death,‭ ‬Rob was the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. ‭
Intent on keeping the business operating according to the Parkhurst family tradition and goals envisioned by Rob,‭ ‬the stockholders placed their confidence in Mike Harris who held the offices of Chief Executive Officer and President until his retirement in December‭ ‬2016.

At that time,‭ ‬the Parkhurst family placed the company under the leadership of Sam Trelow as Chief Executive Officer and President.‭ ‬Sam worked closely with Rob and Mike for many years as Vice President of Sales and with Sam’s leadership and progressive thinking,‭ ‬Parkhurst continued its tradition of quality and integrity.

In March‭ ‬2017,‭ ‬a new era of Parkhurst Manufacturing was born.‭ ‬The Parkhurst family sold the company to long-term employees Sam Trelow and Toby Pierce,‭ ‬along with Sam’s son James Trelow.‭ ‬The same core values established so many years ago continue to influence the direction of the company.‭

Today,‭ ‬Parkhurst Manufacturing is well-positioned to advance its commitment to its employees and customers,‭ ‬and produce the highest quality products that will lead the industry today and into the future.‭
